"When these guys put on a dinner, you know you have to be there."
- KnoxFoodie

We were thrilled to have Eric & Mandee, the fabulous team behind KnoxFoodie, join us for our final wine dinner of the season. The wine dinners were a great avenue for us to showcase barbecue in a way that was outside of the box. We currently do not have any wine dinners schedule for the next few months, but if you are interested in reserving a private wine dinner at DEBBQ Maryville, please contact General Manager MacLean Bell for more info.

To read the full expose on the wine dinner, check out KnoxFoodie's blog.

Dead End BBQ Named One of America's Top 100 BBQ Restaurants

Dead End BBQ of Knoxville, Tennessee, has been named one of the best barbecue restaurants in the country in The 100 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America book.

In one year, Johnny Fugitt visited 365 barbecue restaurants across 48 states. The 100 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America blends travel writing, food writing and creative non-fiction to chronicle the journey, share secrets from barbecue kitchens and point the reader in the direction of America’s best barbecue.

Fugitt recommends the ribs, Competition Chicken and wings at Dead End.
Unsatisfied with Top 10 lists that recycle the same historic or well-marketed restaurants, Fugitt hit the road to sample it all himself in search of the best. Some of the expected barbecue names made the Top 100, but others are left off because, Fugitt argues, they survive on reputation alone and no longer produce great barbecue. One famous barbecue restaurant is criticized for microwaving ribs before service.

“My congratulations go to George Ewart and the whole team at Dead End,” said Fugitt. “After 365 barbecue restaurant visits in a year, you stood out as one of my favorites.”

About the Author: Johnny Fugitt is a freelance writer from Missouri. He holds a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics and is an officer in the United States Navy Reserve.
